Sonbhadra, July 17: At least nine people died after a property dispute in eastern Uttar Pradesh’s Sonbhadra district which led to a gunfight on Wednesday. Seventeen people were also injured in the dispute. According to reports, nearly 100 people were involved in the clashes between the two groups. The gun-battle lasted for an hour in Ghorawal block. The Uttar Pradesh Police have started an investigation into the matter. The incident took place in a village close to the state’s border with Madhya Pradesh, reported Hindustan Times. District Magistrate Ankit Kumar Agarwal said, “We can't tell exact numbers as of now. Nine persons brought to District Hospital. Some are injured and some are dead." Taking cognisance of the incident, Adityanath directed the District Magistrate immediate medical attention to injured. He also asked the Director-General of Police, Sonbhadra to personally monitor the case and ensure effective action.
