Bareilly, September 7: In a bizarre incident, two police constables allegedly indulged in a heated argument on Monday night over one's affair with a female cop at Baheri police station in Bareilly, reported The Times of India. Reportedly, both the constables are in their mid-20s.

As per the reports, one of the cops, Monu Kumar picked up a service revolver and open fire inside the station. The bullet did not hit anyone and struck the floor. After firing a shot, Monu put the gun back, left the police station, and went on leave, the report said. Madhya Pradesh Shocker: Five Cops Suspended After 19-Year-Old Tribal Youth Dies in Police Custody in Indore.

Kumar hails from the Baghpat district of west Uttar Pradesh and was posted at the Baheri police station in December 2019. A woman constable from his neighbouring district of Muzaffarnagar joined the same police station earlier this year in January.

Monu Kumar and the woman constable knew each other for a long time. They had been in a relationship for the past year, since before she got posted at the Baheri station. As both of them are from different castes, constable Chahal passed snide comments about their relationship which led to the brawl. Reportedly, the two cops got into a heated argument two days before the incident, however, the situation was pacified by other cops who were present inside the thana.

A probe into the matter has been lodged by the SSP Satyarth Aniruddha Pankaj. Constable Kumar and the in-charge of armory Manoj Kumar were suspended after the incident.
