The premier agency is all set to file a fresh FIR into the case, officials said.

The decision to transfer the case to the CBI was taken based on the recommendation of Uttar Pradesh government. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was appealed by the victim's mother to transfer the case to the central agency.

The state government had come under severe flak for allegedly compromising on the security to the 19-year-old victim who accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar of raping her.

An order from the Department of Personnel and Training, accessed by the PTI, said the case is being handed over to the CBI to probe "abetment and conspiracies" into the accident. Notably, the agency is already probing the rape case against Sengar.

The accident involving the rape victim was reported on Sunday, when the vehicle in which she was travelling along with her lawyer and two aunts was rammed into by a truck.

The two aunts died on the spot, whereas, the rape victim and her lawyer were left critically injured.

Based on the preliminary probe, the Uttar Pradesh police registered a case against Sengar, the Bangermau legislator, and nine others based on the woman's complaint.
