Lucknow, July 31: While BJP legislator Kuldeep Singh Sengar has remained in focus in the case filed into the accident of Unnao rape survivor, a closer scrutiny of the first information report (FIR) has revealed that another party leader, Arun Singh, has been named as the "accused no. 7". His name was included based on the complaint of the victim's uncle.

Singh is the block-level president of the BJP in Unnao, the hometown of the 19-year-old victim who has alleged that she was raped in 2017 by Sengar. The former is also the son-in-law of Uttar Pradesh minister Ranvendra Pratap Singh, who is serving as the minister in charge of agriculture, agriculture education and research in the Yogi Adityanath-led government. Unnao Rape Survivor’s Letter to be Taken up by SC Tomorrow, CJI Ranjan Gogoi Questions Registry Over Delay

According to NDTVSingh was spotted in several election campaigns and rallies standing next to top BJP leaders, including party president Amit Shah and Unnao lawmaker Sakshi Maharaj.

Singh, while speaking to reporters earlier in the day, said Ranvendra should not be dragged into the controversy. The accused further refuted the charges levelled by the victim's uncle, claiming that he has no relation with the rape case and had "never threatened" the girl's family.

The FIR, however, notes that Singh and others were allegedly attempting to coerce the victim's kin to withdraw the rape case filed against Sengar, the Bengarmau legislation, and his men.

The accident of Unnao rape survivor was reported on Sunday, when the vehicle in which she was travelling along with her lawyer and two aunts was rammed into by a truck near Rae Bareli.

While her two aunts died on the spot, the victim and her lawyer were rushed to Lucknow's King George Medical Hospital in a critical situation. Their condition is now reported to have improved, though the girl continues to remain on ventilator.
