New Delhi, August 5: The Supreme Court on Monday ordered to shift the Unnao rape survivor from a Lucknow hospital to All India Institutes of Medical Sciences or AIIMS in Delhi. The 19-year-old victim, who has accused expelled Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar of raping her, is being treated at King George Medical University (KGMU) hospital in Lucknow.
The apex court said the rape survivor will be airlifted after the administration of KGMU said her health condition has improved. "Both of them (rape survivor and her lawyer) are critical but stable. There has been improvement in the health of the female patient," according to the health bulletin issued by KGMU. The lawyer remains in a deep coma, the hospital said. Sengar said he was being framed as part of a "political conspiracy". Last week, the Supreme Court ordered that transferring of the accident case of the Unnao rape survivor to Delhi be kept in abeyance for 15 days. A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi had shifted the five cases related to the Unnao rape to Delhi and assigned a special judge to conduct day-to-day trials.
The woman had accused Sengar of raping her in 2017. The matter had come to fore after she attempted self-immolation outside the police station. The woman's father also died in police custody under mysterious circumstances.
