Lucknow, June 27: Prisoners of Unnao jail in Uttar Pradesh were caught on camera brandishing guns inside the jail premises. According to a tweet by ANI, the inmates at the Unnao jail were seen flashing weapons and consuming liquor inside the jail. Reports quoted AK Singh, Jail Superintendent informed that a report on the incident has been sent to higher officials and strict action will be taken within 1-2 days. However, a day after a video of the jail inmates went viral, the state home department today clarified that the pistols are ‘made of clay’. The latest incident in Unnao Jail has raised concern over the security inside prisons in the state. The officials, however, could not deny the presence of mobile phones inside the jail as shown in the video. Police informed that the video of the inmates was circulated on the social media on June 23.
UP Minister Siddharth Nath Singh said that state government as well as jail DG have taken cognizance of the incident and strict action will be taken. "In days to come you will see no such small incidents will exist as nobody is allowed to take law in their hands in Yogi Raj", Singh said.

According to a video that was widely shared on social media on Wednesday, the two prisoners are seen holding guns inside the Unnao district jail. Reports inform that after a video went viral, departmental action has been initiated against four jail staff members. The Jail Superintendent said that on the basis of viral video showing prisoners at the jail brandishing arms and threatening jail authorities, a report has been submitted to the relevant authority and action will be taken in this regard.

According to several reports, the home and prison department officials said that the firearm visible in the viral video of two prisoners — Gaurav Pratap Singh alias Ankur and Amrish Rawat, was not the real one. The reports inform that Ankur was a painter and he had made the toy firearm with clay and coloured it with black paint to pose with it.
