Unnao Case: Days After Accident, Kamal Nath Appeals to Rape Survivor And Her Family to Shift to Madhya Pradesh

Kamal Nath on Friday appealed to the Unnao rape victim and her family to shift to Madhya Pradesh. Nath offered help to the victim consider a danger to her life. He also assured of giving better medical treatment to the rape survivor and taking responsibility of her education.

Bhopal, August 2: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Friday offered help to the Unnao rape survivor and her family and appealed them to shift to the state from Uttar Pradesh. Nath offer's came after the rape survivor's mother said that she is considering to leave UP due to security concerns.  The MP Chief Minister also hailed the Supreme Court’s verdict in the Unnao rape case. Unnao Rape Survivor Accident: Uttar Pradesh Police Says Will Ensure 'Free And Fair Probe'.

Nath in tweet said, “Unnao Dushkaram Mamle mein Supreme Court ka faisla swagat yogya hai. UP ko arukshit maan chodne ka nirnay le chuki pidita ki maa aur parijanon se main appeal karta hoonki ve sabhi Madhya Pradesh aakar basne ka nirnay lein. Hamari sarkar aapke pooe parivaar ko sampuran shiksha pradan karegi.” (Supreme Court’s decision on Unnao rape case is welcomed. As victim’s mother has already decided to leave Uttar Pradesh due to security reasons, I appeal to her family to take shelter in Madhya Pradesh.  My government will provide complete security to them.)

He also assured of giving better medical treatment to the rape survivor and taking responsibility of her education. In another tweet, Nath wrote that the MP government would make all necessary arrangements for taking the case to Delhi.

Earlier in the day, the top court deferred shifting of the Unnao rape survivor and her lawyer to Delhi as their health condition continues to be critical. The Supreme Court ordered that the duo will not be airlifted from King George Medical College at Lucknow to Delhi. On Friday, King George's Medical University said the condition of the injured is critical but stable. The woman is still on a ventilator while the lawyer of Unnao rape survivor has been removed from the ventilator support.

The car in which the rape survivor, her two aunts and her lawyer were travelling met with an accident in Rae Bareli on Sunday. The accident took place after a truck hit the car killing her two aunts and leaving her and the advocate critically injured.

The victim was allegedly raped in 2017 by Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Kuldeep Sengar on the pretext of being provided a job.The Unnao rape case came to light on April 8 last year, when the victim attempted to immolate herself outside Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s residence in Lucknow.
