New Delhi, November 27: Union minister Jayant Sinha while responding to a complaint of a differently-abled woman had apologised for the inconvenience she faced at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSIA). Sinha, on Tuesday, tweeted, “Really sorry for the suffering that you went through.” In his tweet, he tagged Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Mumbai airport officials to look into the matter. The woman, Virali Modi, who was travelling to London from Mumbai on Jet Airways flight took to Twitter to describe her experience at the airport. AI Cabin Supervisor Slaps Flight Attendant Over Wrongly Served Non-Veg Meal

The complainant said that it was the most horrible experience with the CISF staff as after scanning her wheelchair, the woman personnel deployed at the security checkpoint asked her stand, even after seeing her condition. Virali tweeted, “She kept forcing me to stand up and then she went on to say that she’d lift me up and get someone else to pat my backside. After many denied requests, she lifted my leg up forcefully, causing a major cramp.”

She also alleged that she got a cramp which was so painful, that her leg went into a spasm which made it cramp even more. The woman in a series of tweet said that she wanted to complain about the way she treated me, but her senior was nowhere in sight. Is this how the CISF are trained?. Virali also questioned the facilities provided at Mumbai airport for disabled passengers. In one of her tweets, she said that Every other international airport has chemical strips to check the wheelchair and shoes, a disabled passenger doesn’t need to get out of their wheelchair. So why in Mumbai’s International Airport?

Sinha had also tagged #AirSewa in his response which is a digital platform launched by the aviation ministry for improved traveller experience for passengers. This is the second incident in a week when Jayant Sinha set an example of shunning the VIP approach. Earlier on November 21, Sinha was flying from Delhi to Ranchi on Tuesday on budget airline AirAsia India. During the flight, when he asked for a particular meal, the air hostess told him that he had pre-booked some other meal which cannot be changed at the last minute. Sinha then paid for the particular meal he wanted without making any fuss.
