New Delhi, May 7: Security officials at Mandoli Jail detected three mobile phones, a charger cable, two SIM cards, a memory card and 10 packets of smack inside the stomach of an undertrial who returned to the prison after his 15-day interim bail got over. The inmate who hid all these items inside his abdominal cavity was identified as Akhtar alias John Cena.

Akhtar, who was arrested on charges of allegedly raping a minor girl, had been released from Mandoli Jail on March 23. He was granted a 15-day interim bail. On April 6, when he returned to the prison, security personnel made Akhtar go through the metal detector. The device picked up the equipment, but security officials could not find anything.

Security personnel felt something was suspicious and they informed their seniors. Akhtar was then referred to GTB hospital for a medical check-up. However, doctors were unable to reach a conclusion. Akhtar was then sent to the gastroenterology department of GB Pant hospital where it was found that he had concealed a lot of gadgets inside his abdominal cavity.

“Following an X-ray, doctors said he was concealing three phones, a charger cable, two SIM cards, a memory card and 10 packets of smack inside his abdominal cavity. They performed an endoscopy, took out the articles and informed the jail administration on April 23,” a senior jail official told The Indian Express.
