Mumbai, May 4: The Mumbai police recently arrested a father-son duo for allegedly killing a 55-year-old over a parking dispute. The alleged incident took place on the evening of Thursday, May 2, in the Giraon area of South Mumbai. Police officials said that the deceased, identified as Mukesh Morajkar, had reportedly parked his cycle in the water pump room of the society.
This led to a dispute between Morajkar and his neighbour, Vipul Raut, reports Hindustan Times. Soon, the altercation resulted in Morajkar sustaining head injuries, thereby leading to his death. Cops said the dispute occurred over Morajkar's son Vedant’s cycle. The victim had parked his son's cycle inside the pump room. This led to an argument between Vipul and Morajkar over it. In no time, the argument turned violent, with Vipul hitting Morajkar. Post this, Vipul's father, Vikas Raut, also joined his son in the assault. The father-son duo allegedly kicked, slapped, and punched Morajkar before banging his head on the wall of the pump room.
Following this, Morajkar fell to the ground. He was immediately rushed to GT Hospital, where he was declared dead. Cops said that the victim suffered from asthma, which worsened his condition. Acting on the victim's wife's complaint, the police arrested the father-son duo. The two were produced before a court which remanded to police custody till May 8. The accused, Vipul Vikas Raut (32), and his father, Vikas Muralidhar Raut (62), have been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). They are in police custody.
