Bengaluru, July 16: In an unfortunate incident in Karnataka, a 52-year-old man died after his house caught fire in Udupi. The alleged incident occurred on the morning of Monday, July 15, at a house in Ambalpady in Udupi. The deceased has been identified as Ramanand Shetty. While Shetty died in the fire incident, his wife, Ashwini (47), suffered burn injuries.

After the incident came to light, police officials said that Ashwini was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Manipal as she sustained serious burns. Police officials said that the blaze erupted at around 5:30 AM after the air conditioner malfunctioned. Their two children were also in their bedroom when the fire broke out. Soon after the blaze erupted, it engulfed most of the house, which had wooden floors. Officials also said that the house had less ventilation. Later, fire officials entered the house wearing breathing apparatus.

The firefighters found Shetty and his wife unconscious in their bedroom. They were immediately rushed to a hospital, where Shetty breathed his last. It is reported that Shetty was the owner of Shetty Bar & Restaurant. Cops said that a fireman named Achar suffered injuries during the firefighting operation and is under treatment at a private hospital.
