New Delhi, Sept 7: Two suspected terrorists were arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police near the Red Fort, reports said on Friday. The duo, identified as Parwez Rashid and Jamshed Jahoor, are allegedly affiliated to the Islamic State in Jammu & Kashmir (ISJK). They were nabbed last night from the Jama Masjid bus stop, said DCP (Special Cell) Pramod Kushwaha.

"2 pistols, 10 cartridges and 4 mobile phones were seized from them. They had acquired weapons from UP and were going to Kashmir. Weapons were to be used for terrorist activities," Kushwaha said.

"We arrested Parvez and Jamshed. They are members of an outfit called ISJK. Brother of Parvez was gunned down in an encounter with security forces in January, he was initially a member of Hizbul Mujahideen & later joined ISJK," Kushwaha further told reporters.

"Delhi was not a part of their plan, they were just in transit here. They told us that the leader of the outfit (ISJK) is Umar Ibn Nazir and the number 2 leader is Adil Thokar. They were following the orders of Adil Thokar," the DCP further added.

Notably, ISJK is a newly floated jihad outfit in Jammu & Kashmir which has ascribed to the ideology of the Islamic State or ISIS.

Their arrests comes days after the police had apprehended the terror suspects ahead of the Independence Day celebrations last month. The youths who were taken into custody, on August 9, were identified as Mohammed Azim, a resident of Malda in West Bengal and Aas Mohammad, a resident of Shamli in Uttar Pradesh.

Azim and Mohammed were involved in supplying arms to local criminal gangs for the last four-five years, reports had said citing police sources.

Fro the duo, the team headed by Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjeev Kumar Yadav had seized two carbines, 50 pistols and an equal number of cartridges.

As of now, it could not be confirmed whether the two youths nabbed today are linked to Azim and Mohammed, who were arrested last month.

Notably, in August, the intelligence agencies had sounded an alert in the national capital region, claiming that a risk is being posed by terrorists affiliated to the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Muhammad.
