TSRTC Strike: Abetment to Suicide Complaint Made Against Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao in Srinivas Reddy Case

Hyderabad, October 15: A complaint has been filed against Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Tuesday for 'abetment to suicide' after a couple of TSRTC drivers including Srinivas Reddy committed suicide. The Telangana government had sacked 48,000 employees of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), for holding a strike before the festive season following their demand to merge the TSRTC with the state government. The strike began on October 5.

The complaint has been lodged by an advocate K Karuna Sagar, against Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao and State Transport Minister, Puvvada Ajay Kumar on charges of abatement of suicide of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), driver Srinivas Reddy.

Infuriated at the strike by the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), the state government led by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao fired over 48,000 employees of the TSRTC. The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) had declared an indefinite strike. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao justified the action by calling it an "unpardonable crime".

The government had earlier given the striking workers the deadline of 6 pm till October 5, said reports. However, the workers refused to end their strike.

Dismissing the possibility of any kind of negotiation, KCR said that, "It is an unpardonable crime that they went on a strike during the festive season and at a time when the TSRTC was incurring a huge loss of Rs. 1,200 crore and its debt burden had gone up to Rs. 5,000 crore."
