Chandrapur, July 7: One car and around 20 motorcycles of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Yuva Morcha members were set on fire in Dharmanagar area of Tripura’s Chandrapur on Sunday by unknown assailants. Three BJP supporters were also injured in the incident. They were later rushed to a nearby hospital. Police have started investigation in the incident. The BJP alleged Communist Party of India – Marxist’s (CPIM) role in the incident. According to reports, the BJP workers had gone for Panchayat Polls campaigning in Paschim Chandrapur in Dharmanagar when their vehicles were torched. Last month, Tripura's BJP-IPFT government decided to examine all cases of political violence in which family members of those killed are seeking proper investigation so that culprits are punished. The government formed a three-member probe committee headed by Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath which will provide its recommendations after the completion of the investigations.
According to State Chief Minister Biplab Deb, 186 cases of violence were registered in the state after the Election Commission announced the Lok Sabha election schedule in March.
