Mumbai, October 28: In a shocking incident, three transgenders were brutally thrashed after they asked money from shopkeepers as Diwali Baksheesh (gift). According to reports, three transgenders were beaten up by locals in Bhayander on Saturday. As per details by police, the victims were covered in blood when they reached Bhayander police station to register a complaint. According to a report by TOI, a complaint against unidentified men was registered and a case of causing hurt by using dangerous weapons has been registered against sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The transgenders alleged that the incident took place when they were visiting several shops outside Bhayander railway station, asking for baksheesh for Diwali, which they ask every year. Describing their ordeal, the victims said when they approached Ram Barose restaurant, the owner started to verbally abuse them. Soon after, a mob of about 20 men started thrashing them brutally with iron rods and sticks. The transgenders tried to save themselves but sustained serious injuries on the face and head. Soon after the incident, they approached the police and a case was registered. The victims were taken to a government hospital for medical check-up. The police assured strict action against the culprits and said that they will examine the CCTV footage from the area to identify the men who assaulted them.
