Prayagraj, November 10: An alarming attempt to derail a train took place on Friday evening, November 8, when the Vande Bharat Express collided with a bike left on the tracks in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj district. The incident, which occurred shortly after 4 PM near Jhansi station, saw a youth abandon his bike on the railway tracks just as the high-speed train was approaching. The bike which collided with the Vande Bharat Express became caught in the train’s engine and was dragged for several metres, causing a significant jolt that was felt by passengers onboard.

According to an India TV report, the youths, who were crossing the railway track near the Bandhwa Tahirpur railway underpass, quickly fled the scene after leaving their bike behind. As the Vande Bharat Express approached, the bike collided with the train’s engine, causing the metal object to become lodged. Fortunately, the loco pilot acted swiftly, applying emergency brakes and halting the train before any further damage could occur. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) are now investigating the matter, with efforts underway to trace the owner of the bike. An FIR has been filed against the individual responsible for leaving the bike on the tracks. Authorities are working to identify the suspects involved in the act of sabotage, which could have led to a catastrophic derailment. This incident comes amid growing concerns over railway safety in Uttar Pradesh, as similar attempts to disrupt train services have been reported in recent months.
