Mumbai, July 9: As heavy rains continue to lash the city and suburban Mumbai, severe waterlogging was reported at Nalasopara railway station tracks on Monday. This caused delay in the departure of several long-distance trains from Mumbai Central, Bandra terminus, and Dadar. The timings were rescheduled by the Western Railways. The water-logging on tracks also led to the cancellation of a few AC local trains which run between Churchgate and Virar. Apart from western railways, the long-distance trains of the central route also been delayed and a few have been cancelled due to heavy rains.

To take stock of the situation, Western Railways General Manager A K Gupta visited the site and met the Vasai Virar Municipal Commissioner to discuss measures to be adopted during such situation.

After flooding was reported at Nalasopara station, the local trains were allowed to run at the restricted limit, due to which all western line trains were running late by 20 minutes approximately. To bring the condition into normal, de-watering pumps have been used. Since some water receded from tracks by late afternoon, the Western Railways have resumed all Churchgate-bound fast locals.
