Train 18: PM Modi Shows Green Flag to India’s First Engineless Train Vande Bharat Express in Delhi, Watch Video
India’s first engineless train plying between New Delhi and Varanasi was flagged off by PM Narendra Modi
New Delhi, February 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday flagged off country’s first engineless train manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai. The train – named as ‘Vande Bharat Express’ (previously Train 18) – will ply five days a week between New Delhi and Varanasi. A video of PM Modi has been uploaded by the Press Information Bureau where is seen showing green flag to the train.
The video tweeted shows the Premier being briefed about the engineless train and the technical specifications. After taking stock of the preparedness on the first trip of the Vande Bharat’s driver’s coach, PM Modi showed the green flag to the train and waived it off with good wishes. According to the official information, Vande Bharat Express has two classes of tickets — executive class and chair car — and will have differently priced meals. An air-conditioned chair car ticket for a Delhi-Varanasi trip would cost Rs 1,760, instead of Rs 1,850, and the executive class fare will be Rs 3,310, instead of Rs 3,520. It includes catering charges.
Also, the official information states that the chair car ticket would cost Rs 1,700 and the executive car ticket will be priced at Rs 3,260 on the return journey. Among other details, Union Railways Minister Piyush Goyal had earlier said that the indigenously built train would complete the distance of 795 km in eight hours, 35 per cent faster than other fastest trains on the route.
