Kolkata, December 9: Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress party workers in Cooch Behar on Saturday conducted a purification of grounds or 'Shudhikaran' where Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday protested after a Calcutta High Court single bench denied the party permission for its statewide rath yatra on Thursday. On Saturday, the district unit of Trinamool Congress 'cleansed' the area with Gangajal and cow dung water in Cooch Behar. When asked reason behind the cleansing drive, Pankaj Ghosh, the party leader said, "BJP gave a communal message here. Earlier on Thursday, the Calcutta High Denies permission for BJP's rally in Cooch Behar saying there was not enough time for the state to make adequate security arrangements for such a big rally. The HC also directed BJP to not hold any such rally till 9 January 2019. Meanwhile, the BJP has conducted a protest rally against High Court's decision in Jhinaidanga, the venue near Cooch Behar town.
