Hyderabad, July 19: Telangana Home Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali's grandson has sparked a controversy after a video of him purportedly sitting on the bonnet of a police vehicle went viral. The clip has been criticised by netizens as misuse of the power. According to PTI sources, all police vehicles are registered under Director General of Police's name and the car in the video is allotted to Home Minister. In the clip, Ali's grandson Furqan Ahmed can be seen sitting atop the car, along with another person; the number plate, when checked in the mParivahan app, suggested that it is registered in name of Telangana police chief. The 15-second-clip shows, a person sitting with Ahmed walking up to the camera and lip-syncing a dialogue from a film threatening a police official. The officer is warned that if he does not behave well with a person seated on the vehicle, his throat will be silt.
Reacting to the video, the minister said that his grandson was just seated in the vehicle. He said that he had gone to a Hyderabad's Yakatpura where a local made a video. "Some local guy made the video... we will look into it," the minister said.
