Mumbai, July 9: The cyber cell of Mumbai Police on Monday registered a complaint against a group of Tiktok users for allegedly circulating a video related to mob lynching of Tabrez Ansari in Jharkhand. The complaint was filed by Shiv Sena activist Ramesh Solanki against a TikTok group, formerly known as Musical.ly, that goes with a name of 'Team 07'.

The member of the group- Faisal Shaikh Aka Faisu, Faiz Baloch, Hasnain Khan, Sadhan Faroqui, Adnan Shaikh have a combined follower strength of four crore people. According to report, the five TikTok users shot a video and posted it online. The clip within hours went viral. The short video, released on TikTok, shows five youths saying, "You may have killed that innocent Tabrez Ansari, but tomorrow if his son takes revenge, do not say that all Muslims are terrorists". TikTok Challenge Turns Tragic; 12-Year-Old Boy Hangs Himself Wearing Mangalsutra And Bangles.

The police said that they viewed the clip and after the content was found to be potential to promote enmity, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered. Taking note, the video-sharing app by ByteDance, TikTok has suspended the account and removed the clip from its application calling it as "a violation of their community guidelines."

Meanwhile, a case has been registered under sections 153(A) and 34 of Indian Penal code (IPC) and relevant sections of Information Technology Act (ITA) at LT Marg Police station. A probe into the matter is underway.
