Lucknow, August 30: Tiger attacks have been on the rise in Uttar Pradesh, with the big cat allegedly killing four people within a month. In the latest incident, a 36-year-old farmer was allegedly killed by a tiger while he was inspecting his sugarcane field in Lakhimpur Kheri district. The tiger attack incident occurred on the evening of Tuesday, August 27, near the Gola range forests.

Accoding to a report in the Times of India, the victim has been identified as Amrish Kumar Kannaujia, a resident of Imalia village. Kannaujia is survived by his wife and children. The alleged tiger attack incident came to light after officials of the forest department found Kannaujia's mutilated body late in the night. Victim's Family Find His Mutilated Body During Search

Rajkumari, Kannaujia's wife, said that they launched a search for him after he did not answer their phone calls. During the search, villagers and the forest department officials found Kannaujia's clothes and sandals. Later, they found his mutilated body. It is alleged that the big cat had decapitated Kannaujia. Soon after the incident came to light, villagers started protesting.

Villagers Blame the Forest Department for Tiger Attack

In the meantime, Sarvesh Kumar, the deputy tehsildar of Gola, and police officials rushed to the spot to control the situation. The villagers have blamed the forest department for the tiger attack. During their protest, they even shouted slogans against the forest department. They said this was due to tigers' overcrowding in the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve and waterlogging in the forests. However, they have set up several cases to catch the tiger responsible for the attack. Forest officials also said that this was the fourth big cat attack this month. Meanwhile, INR 5 lakh compensation has been promised to the deceased farmer's family.
