Mumbai, January 18: Either there is a scarcity for trains for Mumbai to Delhi, or the numbers of passengers increased in multiple folds for the national capital. The reason being, all the seats for new bi-weekly Mumbai-Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express starting Saturday – connecting the financial capital to the national capital – were sold out within five hours, informed the railway official.
According to a senior railway official, the booking for the new superfast express began on Friday at around 11 am, and within five hours the reservations for its 756 berths for the next few runs were occupied. The official even said that the Tatkal quota for Saturday's run of the train was full. Railways Introduces Bi-Weekly Mumbai-Delhi Rajdhani Express Starting January 19.
In the new bi-weekly superfast express, beginning its journey from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, there would be 24 berths in AC First Class, 156 berths in Second AC and 576 in Third AC. With this new induction, this would be the third Rajdhani Express service between the two metropolitan cities.
Based on the information received, the train number 22221 Mumbai – Hazrat Nizamuddin would depart every Thursday and Sunday at 4.15 pm to arrive CSMT at 11.55 am the next day. Similarly, train number 22222 Hazrat Nizamuddin - Mumbai Bi-weekly Rajdhani Express will leave Hazrat Nizamuddin on every Thursday and Sunday at 4.15 pm and will arrive at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Mumbai at 11.55 am next day. The train will take halts and Kalyan, Nasik Road, Jalgaon, Bhopal, Jhansi and Agra Cantonment stations.
