Mumbai, September 30: A sessions court in Telangana's Mahabubabad recently awarded death sentence to a man who was convicted for kidnapping and murdering a 9-year-old boy. The accused identified as Manda Sagar has reportedy kidnapped and killed the minor boy for ransom. The accused reportedly strangulated the boy and later set his body ablaze. The death sentence was announced by P Chandra Shekara Prasad, principal district session's judge.

According to a report in the Times of India, the decision by the sessions court comes nearly three years after the deceased boy Kusuma Deekshith Reddy was reportedly kidnapped from outside his house. Reddy was abducted on October 18, 2020, when he was playing with his friends. The accused allegedly kidnapped the boy as he wanted to make easy money. Investigation revealed that Sagar was known to Deekshith's father. The accused reportedly kidnppaed the boy after luring him to go with him on a bike ride. On the pretext f bike ride, Sagar took the minor boy to a hillock at Annaram village in Mahabubabad.

'We Are Happy With the Verdict'

"Using Dingtone and Freecall apps, he called the boy's parents demanding Rs 45 lakh in ransom. But fearing that the boy might disclose his identity, Sagar throttled him and used petrol to burn the body so that it can't be identified," public prosecutor Ch Venkateshwarlu said. Meanwhile, cops said that it was difficult to track Sagar as he used certain apps which gave his location at different places. However, they somehow managed to arrest Sgara who confessed to the crime. Expressing joy, the deceased's father said that he is happy with the court's verdict. "The evidence helped in getting the death penalty. This should act as a deterrent," the boy's father Ranjith Reddy said.
