Thane, August 23: In a disturbing incident, an eight-year-old girl was allegedly subjected to sexual harassment by a 35-year-old man who allegedly showed her a pornographic video in a public toilet in  Ambernath, Thane. The accused, identified as Santosh Kamble, reportedly lured the child into the facility and attempted to engage in inappropriate behaviour while threatening her if she spoke about it. Upon learning of the ordeal, the victim's mother filed a complaint with the police on August 21, leading to the arrest of the accused.

Santosh Kamble has been arrested under sections 74 and 75(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, as well as relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. On July 1, he reportedly enticed the minor girl, who is his neighbour, into a public toilet and attempted to commit an obscene act while showing her the video. He further threatened her to ensure her silence. Concerned for her daughter's safety, the mother approached the Ambernath West police station on Wednesday, August 21, to file a formal complaint. Following the complaint, an investigation was launched, which confirmed the allegations. Kamble was subsequently arrested and produced in court, as reported by PTI. He has been remanded in police custody for seven days while the investigation continues.
