Bhiwandi, June 2: In a tragic turn of events, the police have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with the murder of his married sister's lover in Thane's Bhiwandi. The incident, which occurred under the jurisdiction of the Narpoli police station in Bhiwandi on May 28, has sent shockwaves through the community. The accused later travelled to Pune to dispose of the dead body.
According to the Times of India, the deceased, Anand Gupta, employed in the sales department of a Mumbai-based company, was reportedly involved in a romantic relationship with the sister of the accused, who is married and resides with her husband at Lodha Dham in Mankoli. The police report suggests that the accused, Suraj Gaikwad, had repeatedly warned Gupta to stay away from his sister, but to no avail. On the fateful day, Gaikwad summoned Gupta to Lodha Dham for a discussion, which escalated into a violent altercation, resulting in Gaikwad fatally attacking Gupta. Subsequently, Gaikwad, along with two or three unidentified accomplices, is alleged to have transported Gupta's body to Pune and disposed of it in a quarry.
Missing Report Filed After Victim Does Not Return Home
Gupta's absence raised alarms when he failed to return home after informing his family of a meeting in Mankoli. His concerned family embarked on a search, eventually discovering his motorcycle and bloodstains in Mankoli. This discovery led them to file a missing person complaint at the Narpoli police station, which was later escalated to a kidnapping case. According to the report, Sujit Gaikwad was arrested in the Pune district on May 30 and remanded into police custody following his court appearance in Bhiwandi.
