Thane, October 23: In a shocking incident in Mumbai's neighbouring Thane, a 9-year-old boy was allegedly molested by a history-sheeter in Ulhasnagar. Police officials said the accused was arrested on Saturday, October 21, for allegedly sexually assaulting the minor boy in Ulhasnagar. The shocking incident took place at Ulhasnagar Camp No 2. The accused molested the boy in a toilet and even threatened to kill him.

According to a report in the Hindustan Times, the accused has been identified as Babar Akbar Ansari (21), a resident of Titwala. An officer said the incident occurred on Saturday, October 21, when the accused came to Ulhasnagar and reportedly grabbed a nine-year-old boy from his old building. The accused did not stop there and even went on to threaten the boy. He told the victim he would kill him if he told anyone about the incident. However, after escaping from Ansari's clutches, the victim rushed home and narrated his ordeal to his mother, who took him to the cops immediately. Acting on the mother's complaint, cops booked Ansari on the same day.

Dilip Fulpagare, Senior Police inspector, said they arrested the accused under the POCSO Act and later produced him before a court, which remanded him to police custody till October 26. Back then, the police warned Ansari and asked him to change his place. Post which, he shifted to Titwala.
