Mumbai, August 30:   A school teacher in Thane allegedly showed porn on his phone to a class 8 student and touched her inappropriately in the classroom.  A case was registered against him on Thursday, August 29, under Section 74 (molestation) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 12 (sexual harassment) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).

The incident was known when the victim arrived late to school on Wednesday, August 28. The principal reprimanded her for her habitual tardiness and summoned her father to the school. Later, the girl confided in her parents after returning home, revealing that she had been reluctant to attend school because a teacher had shown her obscene videos and touched her inappropriately. The police registered an FIR under Section 74 (molestation) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 12 (sexual harassment) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The accused was promptly arrested. On Thursday, he was presented in a local court, which ordered him to remain in police custody until Saturday.
