Mumbai, January 17: A Thane bound luxury bus which was coming from Gujarat caught fire on Ghodbunder Road. According to a Times of India report, the incident took place around 7 am and no casualties were reported. A passenger noticed flames from the rear side and informed the driver.
The latter parked the vehicles and asked the other passengers to immediately alight. The bus was charred in the incident and all the luggage were gutted. However, thankfully none of the passengers was hurt. Mumbai: BEST Bus Catches Fire Near Maheshwari Udyan in Matunga; Watch Video.
Reportedly, one of the rear tyres of the Amreli-registered bus first caught fire which then spread to the rest of the vehicle. It was noticed by an auto driver, who overtook the bus to inform the driver. Most of the passengers were fast asleep when the incident happened.

Last year in July, a Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) bus caught fire in Mumbai's Matunga. The incident took place near Maheshwari Udyan when the bus was on its way from Mulund to Worli.
