New Delhi, November 20: The Delhi Police on Tuesday alerted citizens about likely presence of two suspected terrorists in the national capital. Releasing a picture of the terrorists, the Delhi Police asked people to keep a lookout for them. Cops urged the public to contact the Paharganj police station on 011-23520787 or 011-2352474 on spotting any of the two terrorists.
In the picture, two bearded men are seen posing next to a milestone stating 'Delhi 360 km, Ferozepur 9 km'. They are seen wearing kurtas and traditional headgear. Ferozepur is located on the India-Pakistan border in Punjab. Last week, the counter intelligence wing of Punjab Police alerted about the presence of at least half-a-dozen Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists in the state. The police said the terrorists could be moving towards the national capital. The terrorists reportedly entered India from the international border in Ferozepur area. "At least six to seven terrorists are reportedly in Punjab (possibly Ferozepur area) and planning to move towards Delhi from Punjab side," said a letter issued by the Counter Intelligence Inspector General.
The alert had come just a day after four persons snatched a taxi at gunpoint near Madhopur area, sparking fears of a Pathankot airbase-like attack that took place in 2016. The national capital was put on high alert after a message carrying details of a terrorist attack circulated on a WhatsApp group believed to be run by JeM.
The WhatsApp message carried details of the attack at various locations in Delhi to avenge the killing of its commander in Jammu and Kashmir’s Tral in October.
