Mumbai, November 8:  Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, on Sunady, said that the places of worship in the state are likely to open after Diwali. The places were closed as a part of COVID-19 lockdown.  Thackeray said that the temples are often visited by senior citizens and they are more prone to infection. The COVID-19 infection spread quickly and easily therefore reopening the temples without proper guidelines and precaution is highly dangerous. Schools to Reopen in Maha for Std 9th to 12th from Nov 23.

Thackeray also said that the local administration should discourage the use of firecrackers during Diwali, as an increase in the air pollution is known to have serious health impacts. He added that the 15 days after Diwali are very crucial and asked the BMC to ensure that all the precautionary measures against COVID-19 are being efficiently implemented and ramp up the testing facilities in the state. Maharashtra Class 10 and 12 Board Examination 2021 Not Possible Before May, Schools For Classes 9 to 12 May Open After Diwali 2020, Says State Education Minister.

The CM also said that they are in talks with the Centre to resume the local train services in the state. The government also plans to restart schools for Classes 9 to 12 after Diwali with proper precautions. Around 17.1 lakh cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in the case. The recoveries stood at 15.6 lakh and 44,965 deaths have been reported so far.
