Hyderabad, August 11: A YouTuber from Telangana’s Rajanna Siricilla district has ignited controversy by posting a video titled "Traditional Peacock Curry Recipe" on his channel, prompting swift legal action. The video, uploaded by Kodam Pranaykumar from Tangallapalli, demonstrated how to cook peacock curry, a dish made from India's national bird, which is protected under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972.

The video quickly went viral, drawing widespread outrage from animal rights activists and the public. In response, the police registered a case against Pranaykumar under relevant wildlife protection laws. Further investigation revealed that Pranaykumar had also posted a video on cooking wild boar curry, raising additional concerns about his content. Authorities have launched a manhunt to apprehend Pranaykumar, and the investigation is ongoing. The incident highlights the growing concern over the misuse of online platforms to promote illegal and unethical practices.

In another news, forest department officers on Thursday arrested a man for possessing 112 sea cucumbers in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu.

The arrested man has been identified as M Panneerselvam, 50, of Manthiripattinam. Sea cucumber is protected under Schedule I of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.

Forest range officer A S Chandrasekaran of the Pattukottai range said on Friday that the man was caught during a vehicle check conducted based on a tip-off.

During the interrogation, the man told the forest department officers that he had found the sea cucumbers on the shore at Manthiripattinam recently and kept it for his use.

However, Chandrasekaran said the real origin of the sea cucumbers was yet to be ascertained. The accused was also tight-lipped about the receiver of the protected species.

The man was remanded in judicial custody. The seized sea cucumbers would be destroyed after obtaining a court order, the officer said.
