Dundigal, August 27: A woman was brutally murdered in Dundigal on August 24 after a man, enraged by a suspected theft of his mobile charger, attacked her in a fit of rage. The accused, identified as Ravula Kamal Kumar, smothered J Shanthi to death after a heated argument about the missing charger. Following the crime, Kumar fled to Warangal to evade capture. However, his attempt to escape was thwarted when police used CCTV footage to track his movements. Kumar was eventually arrested in Gagillapur village.
According to the Times of India report, the sequence of events leading to the murder of J Shanthi unfolded on August 21 when the 37-year-old accused Kumar, a private firm employee, initially quarrelled with her over a missing mobile charger. Shanthi, who ran a small shop near Kumar’s workplace, was accused of stealing the charger. Kumar confronted her during their first argument but left without further action. Three days later, on August 24, he returned to Shanthi's shop to continue the dispute. The confrontation escalated dramatically as Kumar pushed Shanthi, causing her to fall and injure her head. In a fit of rage, he then covered her mouth and nose to silence her cries, leading to her death. The brutal act was captured by nearby CCTV cameras, which recorded Kumar’s movements and helped police trace his whereabouts. As reported by Telangana Today, Kumar fled the scene and travelled to Warangal to avoid arrest. However, his escape was short-lived as police used the footage to track him down. Kumar was apprehended in Gagillapur village, Quthbullapur mandal, and has been taken into judicial remand.
