Hyderabad, January 5: In a tragic incident, a  a 10-year-old boy was suffocated to death in a heap of cotton into which he squeezed himself to hide from his younger siblings while playing hide-and-seek. The deceased has been identified as Chennur Abhishek, a class IV student in Kannepalli village of Koutala mandal in Kumuram Bheem Asifabad district.

According to a report in TOI, Abhishek was playing hide-and-seek with his brother and sister when he made a hole in the heap of cotton that was placed in the house and squeezed himself into it. However, when after a couple of hours, the siblings went inside the house and found the protruding feet of Abhishek from the cotton heap and alerted their parents. His parents rushed Abhishek to a primary health centre in a nearby village, but he had died by then.

However, in the hope that he could be revived, the parents took him to a hospital in Kagaznagar town, but the doctors pronounced him as brought dead. Police said that the boy who made a hole into the heap of cotton to hide in it found it difficult to come out and died due to suffocation. Police have registered a case of natural death in the matter.
