Hyderabad, November 4: In a shocking incident, an unknown man entered a woman revenue officer's office in Telangana on Monday and set her ablaze at her office. The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Vijaya Reddy, who is the revenue officer (tehsildar) of Abdullahpurmet village in the southern state. According to a tweet by ANI, the man poured kerosene on the woman and set her on fire allegedly over discrepancies in his land records. The tweet further informs that the woman succumbed to her injuries at a hospital.

After committing the crime, the man set himself on fire. Reports inform that he is admitted to a hospital where he is undergoing treatment. A case has also been registered into the matter. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the accused has been identified as Suresh from Gourelli village. As soon as the incident was reported, Police rushed to the spot to take a stock of the situation. During investigation, Hayatnagar police said that the incident happened at around 2 pm when the accused, enquired about the tehsildar and went into her chamber when she was having lunch.

The official further added saying that the man went into the chamber with a bag in his hand and was in the chamber for nearly 30 minutes. In the meantime, Vijaya ran out screaming and was engulfed in flames and collapsed in the corridor.  The report adds that people around rushed towards her and tried to douse the flames with a blanket, but she was completely burnt by then.
