Telangana: Rs 640 Cr Needed Per Month to Run TSRTC, Government Not in Position to Bear Financial Burden, Says CMO
The CMO Telangana stated that the the TSRTC has no financial strength to incur this expenditure and due to economic slow down, the state government is also not in a position bear this financial burden.
Hyderabad, November 22: The Telangana government on Friday stated that to run Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), Rs 640 crore is needed per month which a huge financial burden. The CMO Telangana stated that the the TSRTC has no financial strength to incur this expenditure and due to economic slow down, the state government is also not in a position bear this financial burden.
The state government has decided to wait for the High Court's order on Friday, as the court is hearing a petition on the privatisation of several RTC bus routes. According to a tweet by ANI, the CMO Telangana stated, "The High Court is expected to give its verdict on privatization of RTC routes on Friday. State govt has decided to take final decision after High Court verdict and after taking into consideration all the related issues". The Joint Action Committee (JAC) on Wednesday said that it is ready to call off the strike, if the government allows them to return to service without any precondition. An official release of the state government stated that the the TSRTC as on date has debts of over Rs 5,000 crore and had about Rs 2,000 crore debts and dues to be paid immediately. "As per the Provident Fund officials’ instructions, to pay the September salaries in full to the employees, Rs 240 crore is required. CCS to be paid is Rs 500 crore. Diesel dues are also to be paid. Transport Tax dues are pending for the last two years. New buses should be purchased to replace the 2,600 old buses," the CMO release said.
