Hyderabad, October 15: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday said that due to heavy rains and flash floods, the state suffered losses to the tune of Rs 5,000 crore.

In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he urged the Centre to release Rs 1,350 crore immediately for rehabilitation and relief works.

Heavy rains and floods during last three days have wrecked havoc in various parts of the state, especially Hyderabad. KCR, as the Chief Minister is popularly called, had asked all the officials concerned to come prepared for the meeting, as the state government has to submit a report to the Centre on the loss caused due to heavy rains and flash floods.

Municipal Administration and IT Minister KT Rama Rao, Power Minister Jagdeesh Reddy, Agriculture Minister S. Niranjan Reddy, R&B Minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy, Ministers from Hyderabad T. Srinivas Yadav and Mehmood Ali, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and other officials attended the review meeting.
