The Nalgonda police has launched a search operation to apprehend the attacker. The deceased's father, meanwhile, has pinned the blame on Varsha's father Maruthi Rao, blaming him for his son's murder.

As per the allegations reported by the local media, Rao was opposed to his daughter's marriage with Perumalla as the latter belonged to a lower caste. On the other hand, the girl's family hailed from a forward caste.

The incident brings back to memory the 2016 murder case of Sankar, a Schedule Caste youth in Tamil Nadu's Udumalaipettai, who had married a Thevar community girl, Kausalya. He was murdered in broad daylight in a similar manner, on the behest of his in-laws who were opposed to the marriage.
