Hyderabad, October 3: In a tragic incident, a tribal woman, who was carried on shoulders by her husband to the hospital, lost her life on Monday. Reports inform that the woman had consumed poison and was declared brought dead by the authorities of a government hospital in Narnoor. The man carried his wife on his shoulders and ran for more than three kilometres to admit her in a hospital in Telangana’s Kumaram Bheem Asifabad district but was unable to save her.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, the man has been identified as Rathod Ram (35) and his deceased wife as Pushpalatha (30). Police informed that a case of suicide has been registered and the investigation is underway. Meanwhile, the body of Pushpalatha was handed over to Ram after post-mortem on Monday evening. A picture of the man carrying his wife and crossing a stream to reach the hospital went viral on social media. According to details by locals, the couple who hail from Umri tribal hamlet of Narnoor block had taken five acres of agricultural land on lease from a landlord. The couple raised huge debts for the cultivation and were expecting a surplus, but all their dreams were shattered due to heavy rains. The report informs that on Monday, the couple went to the fields again to see whether any part of the crop survived the rains and while the husband inspected the crop, the wife consumed pesticide from the bottle and collapsed in the fields.

Soon after the incident, Ram carried his wife and started calling for help. As there is no approach road to the hamlet and he had to cross a stream to reach the nearby road which is three kilometres away from where he stays. After he reached the hospital, she was declared brought dead by the hospital authorities.
