Mumbai, August 25: The Telangana police recently arrested a man for allegedly killing his mother as she could not find a bride for him in the Siddipet district. With his relative's help, the accused bludgeoned his mother to death before chopping off her feet to steal her silver anklets. The incident took place on Thursday, August 24. After the incident came to light, both the accused were arrested, and the stolen property was recovered.
The deceased has been identified as Venkatamma (45), reports the Times of India. Cops said the deceased woman used to earn a living by selling plastic utensils in the nearby villages. The woman was staying with her son Eashwar at their house in Banda Mylaram. An officer said that Eashwar's left hand was amputated a few years ago after he suffered an electric shock. The accused wanted to get married; however, his mother could not find a suitable bride for him due to his disability. The officer also said that Eashwar was upset as his mother chided him and refused to give him money. Enraged by this. The accused decided to kill his mother with the help of a relative. As per their plan, the duo allegedly threw a boulder at the head of Venkatamma while she was fast asleep.
Later, the duo slit her throat with a knife, thereby killing Venkatamma on the spot. The duo did not stop there and even went to chop off her feet to steal silver anklets weighing about 10 tolas. Cops said that the duo chopped off the woman's feet to show the act as robbery. Following this, the accused raised an alarm, claiming that his mother was found dead when he came home from wild boar hunting. Soon, cops were alerted, who reached the spot and found Eashwar's answers inconsistent during the initial investigation. "The knives supposed to have been used by him for hunting were not at home. During sustained interrogation, he confessed to have committed the murder and we recovered the stolen silver anklets and the murder weapons at his grandmother's house nearby," the ACP said.
