Hyderabad, September 14: In a recent ragging case, at least 30 first-year students were called to the seniors' rooms at around 2 am and forced to consume alcohol, smoke cigarettes, and even strip during the ragging session. The incident took place two days after ten students from Gandhi Medical College (GMC) were suspended for allegedly ragging a group of freshmen.

According to the reports, the now-suspended students also made fun of the juniors who had recently joined the institute using foul language. The students claimed that the incident happened about two weeks ago. Telangana College Ragging: 10 Students Thrash Junior, Force Him To Chant Religious Slogans; Booked for Attempt to Murder After Video Goes Viral.

The complainants had "indicated" such ragging in their letter to the UGC, according to Dr. K. Ramesh Reddy, director of medical education (DME), Telangana. He also described the incident as a serious "violation of human rights."

Additionally, he said that the suspension could not be lifted. During the meeting of the anti-ragging committee, the ten freshmen were recognised. The DME said that the latter even acknowledged their involvement in the affair. There is also no likelihood that the freshmen had any ill feelings towards the seniors because they had only joined a few days before the ragging. Therefore, he said, there is no cause to infer wrongdoing. Jadavpur University 'Ragging' Row: Two More Arrested in Swapnodeep Kundu 'Suicide' Case, Inquiry Committee Visits College Hostel (Watch Video).

Although the juniors had brought up the subject directly with the UGC, the central body later informed the local authorities of the situation. One of our students had complained about ragging taking on in the hostel, according to a letter we received from the anti-ragging committee at UGC New Delhi.

We did a preliminary investigation in light of this hint. He said that after receiving assurances of help from the college's anti-ragging department, the students gradually began to divulge facts of the incident, Dr Reddy added.
