Sangareddy, October 14: A dog carcass found in an open well has sparked a health crisis in Sanjeevraopet village near Narayankhed in Telangana's Sangareddy district, leading to the deaths of at least two individuals. On October 12, nearly 100 villagers reported falling ill after consuming water from the contaminated source, with symptoms including vomiting and diarrhoea. The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Bodi Mahesh and an elderly woman named Sayamma, both residents of BC Colony. Approximately 30 people are currently hospitalised as officials investigate the alarming situation.

According to a report by Times of India, locals alleged that the water contamination resulted from the dog's carcass, which was discovered in the well days prior to the outbreak of illnesses. Revenue Divisional Officer Ashok Chakravarty suggested that the elderly woman may have died due to age-related health issues, while Mahesh might have succumbed to appendicitis, indicating that the deaths may not be directly linked to the contaminated water. Telangana: Villagers Find Monkey Carcass in Mission Bhagiratha Water Tank After Using Contaminated Supply for a Week in Nighwa Village, Video Surfaces.

Further complicating the situation, a report from Siasat.com revealed that two borewells in the village were non-functional, forcing residents to rely on the open well for drinking water. As a result, many began exhibiting symptoms of illness after consuming the water on October 12. While residents insist that the water contamination is the cause of the outbreak, officials maintain that their investigations have not yet substantiated these claims. Dead Monkeys in Water Tank: 20 Monkeys Drown to Death in Water Tank While Trying to Drink Water in Telangana's Nandikonda Municipality, Authorities Remove Carcasses (Watch Video).

Revenue officials have yet to confirm these claims as they await medical reports detailing the exact cause of the deaths. The Indian Express reported that Mission Bhagiratha Superintending Engineer Raghuveer emphasised that water samples from both the well and the pipeline supply were tested and found to be free of contamination. Despite the official stance, a thorough investigation has been launched to assess the situation, with medical camps established to monitor and treat affected individuals.
