Tejas Express Update: Passengers of IRCTC’s Delhi-Lucknow Train to Get Free Travel Insurance of Rs 25 Lakh Each, Baggage Services and More

Apart from the free travel insurance, the passengers of the Tejas Express will also be able to avail the offer of luggage ferried from their homes to seats at a cost and even have exclusive lounges to relax.

New Delhi, September 12: The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is now planning to offer free insurance of Rs 25 lakh each to passengers of IRCTC's Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express. Apart from the travel insurance, which is free of cost, the passengers can also avail the benefits of hotel bookings, taxi and baggage pick-and-drop facilities. With the roll out of these facilities, passengers will be entitled to avail the facility of baggage service from their homes to seats at a cost and even have exclusive lounges to relax. The Delhi-Lucknow and Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express trains will be the first trains to be run by the IRCTC. According to officials, the train's fare will be 50 per cent less than that of flights on the same route. The train will run six days a week, except on Tuesdays and will have stoppages at Ghaziabad and Kanpur.Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express Set to Be First Train to Be Run by Pvt Operators.

As per a document enumerating the operational details of the train, the facilities under the new rule include the following:

  1. Passengers of this train will also be given the facility of using retiring rooms at Lucknow junction station
  2. They can use the executive lounge at New Delhi Railway station
  3. Passengers can use the lounge for meetings on demand
  4. IRCTC would also provide wheelchair services to the needy

Under the new rule, kids above the age of 5 will be charged full fare in the Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express. The report further adds that no concessions, privileges or duty passes will be allowed on these trains. According to a report by Livemint, Railway Board Chairman VK Yadav said this is the first time IRCTC is offering such services to its customers.
