Patna, July 2: In what was reminiscent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's famous 'chai pe charcha' campaign, Lalu Prasad Yadav's son and former Bihar cabinet minister Tej Pratap Yadav organised 'tea with Tej' in home constituency Mahua.

The Yadav scion met residents of his constituency at 10 different meeting points and held discussions with them over a cup of tea. On being asked whether he was replicating PM Modi, Tej Pratap said he has his "own style" and does not need to follow a person who has "betrayed" the people.

Apart from hearing the plight of residents and assuring to resolve their issues, the first-time MLA also promoted his upcoming film Rudra - which features him as the protagonist.

"Do watch the movie and give me the feedback," he told a crowd with loud cheers in reception. At all the 10 places where he interacted with youths as well as the senior residents, Tej Pratap was welcomed with sizeable gathering.

"He has glimpses of Lalu ji. People of Mahua are satisfied with his work. Never has anyone been shunted away by the RJD workers here," said one among the gathering.

This, however, is not the first occasion when Tej Pratap has plucked a leaf from his rivals. Earlier, in April 2017, he launched the Dharmnirpeksh (Secular) Sevak Sangh (DSS), which he described as a counter to the "communal poison" being spread by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

Tej Pratap, the elder among the two sons of Lalu, held the State Health portfolio in the erstwhile Nitish Kumar government under the Mahagathbandhan aegis. His younger brother, Tejashwi Yadav, who was the Deputy Chief Minister, is now the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly.
