Mumbai, January 19: Mumbai is gearing up for the Tata Mumbai Marathon on Sunday. The marathon begins at 5.40 am and the traffic police has issued an advisory. The advisory is important for people planning to travel or travel through the route of Marathon in the morning hours. Asian Champ Gopi, Sudha to Run in Mumbai Marathon.

As per the advisory, the Bandra-Worli-Sea link and NS Road on Marine Drive will remain shut as vehicles will be banned on the route from 4 am to 1 pm. Strong Ethiopian Presence in Mumbai Marathon.

People travelling on this route have been advised to use public transportation and avoid private vehicles.

Western Railway will run two special trains from Virar at 2.45 am and 3.05 am. The Central Railway has also made an arrangement for a special train from Kalyan to CSTM at 3 am and from Panvel at 3.10 am on Harbour line. Mary Kom Named Event Ambassador of Mumbai Marathon.

The advisory read that “Shuttle buses will operate from Doordarshan Bhavan to Worli Dairy between 3.30 am and 4.50 am. Bus service has also been arranged for Western and Central Railway commuters, from Mahalaxmi and Parel stations, respectively.”

The 16th Mumbai Marathon will be held on January 20, Sunday and around 50,000 participants are expected to participate in the run. The elite runners in the competitive section of the 16th Tata Mumbai Marathon will make a lap of the Oval Maidan on the race's outward stretch on January 20.

Announcing the slightly altered route, Race Director Hugh Jones said this change will enhance the runners' overall experience as compared to the earlier years. Six-time women's world boxing champion and Olympic medallist M C Mary Kom has been named as the event ambassador.
