New Delhi, July 6: Hours after taking her into custody, the Delhi Police said there is no substantial evidence to suggest tantrik Geeta Maa is linked to the mass suicide committed by the 11-member family in Burari.

"We have interrogated Geeta Maa in connection with the matter where 11 bodies were found in house in Burari. There is nothing which suggests that she is connected with this case," news agency ANI Deputy Commissioner of Delhi Police as saying.

Geeta Maa was detained earlier in the day after a video clip showed her purportedly claiming that she advised the deceased Bhatia family "how to commit suicide".

News channels, which aired the clip, said Geeta is the daughter of the contractor who built the two-storey house of the late family in Burari's Sant Nagar.

Meanwhile, the police said a "psychological autopsy" would be conducted on dead family members to ascertain the reason behind their suicide.

The deaths were first reported on Sunday when neighbours found 10 among the deceased hanging from their neck in the living room at 7:30am. The eldest family member, 77-year-old Narayan Devi, was lying dead in the adjacent room.

A CCTV footage analysed by the police showed some of the family members bringing stools and wires which were used for committing suicide.

A series of handwritten notes recovered from the house gave impetus to the occult angle as it described the suicide as "final ritual" and specifically mentions the details in which the deceased will be found. In one of the notes, it is mentioned that the hands will be tied behind the backs, while the eyes and mouth will be gagged using tapes.
