Kancheepuram, October 28: In a shocking incident, a woman police head constable died by suicide by hanging herself following a distressing argument with her husband over the death of their pet puppies. The childless couple, who had been raising a dog for years, faced a tragic turn of events when two of their newborn puppies fell into an open drain and died in Kancheepuram. Following the incident, her husband, also a police officer, blamed her for the puppies' demise during a phone call. The emotional toll of the confrontation proved overwhelming, leading to her tragic decision.
The couple, identified as D Girija and her husband Dikeshwaran, had been married for approximately 20 years and were deeply attached to their pets. According to a report by the Times of India, the dog had recently given birth to five puppies, and Dikeshwaran had expressed concerns about caring for the additional pups that were expected soon. The couple had made efforts to provide a loving home for their dog and its offspring, reflecting their bond in the absence of children. On the fateful day, two of the puppies tragically fell into an open drain near their residence, resulting in their untimely death. In a heated phone conversation later that evening, Dikeshwaran confronted Girija, holding her responsible for the incident and scolding her harshly.
