Chennai, July 26: In a tragic incident, 55-year-old security guard at the Indian Air Force Station in Tamil Nadu's, Avadi reportedly shot himself while on duty early Wednesday morning, July 24. The incident is under investigation, and the body has been sent for an autopsy. Police officials revealed that the guard lived with his wife and two children.

According to a report by India Today, the deceased was identified as AM Kalidoss, a resident of Tamil Nadu's Mayiladuthurai. He was employed by the Defence Security Corps (DSC). The incident occurred around 4 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. According to the police, Kalidoss was stationed at a watchtower when he allegedly took his own life. After being alerted, police quickly transported Kalidoss to a government hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. His body, which had three gunshot wounds, has been sent for an autopsy. In a similar incident, an armed guard of the Chennai Police, who was on security duty at the Nehru Indoor Sports Arena, shot himself dead with his service weapon in August 2022.
