Tamil Nadu: State Government Plans to Distribute Free Laptops to Govt School Teachers, Install Smart Board in Every Classroom

Chennai, September 6: The Tamil Nadu government is planning to give free laptops to over 2.4 lakh teachers. The educators who will be benefitted from the scheme will be from the government and government-aided schools. School Education Minister KA Sengottaiyan, in a function organised on Teachers' Day, said that an announcement will be made after consulting Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy, Times of India reported. 7 Most Inspirational Thoughts to Share With Your Favourite Teacher at School or College.

The minister also said that all blackboards in the state will be switched to smart boards as a part of a central government initiative. Currently, the school education department is distributing free laptops to all postgraduate teachers to enable them to teach Classes 11 and 12 students better.

Sengottaiyan also said that the vocational education system will be revamped in the state. The teachers from the state will be sent to Finland to be trained in vocational educational techniques. "We have requested officials in Finland. The training and other details will be finalised after detailed discussion," Sengottaiyan was quoted by Times of India.

At the function on Thursday, September 5, more than 300 teachers from the state received Dr Radhakrishnan award. The award carried a cash prize of Rs 10,000, a certificate and a silver medal.
