Tiruvannamalai, December 14: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly killed his wife and four children, including two teenage daughters and ended his life at his house in Chengam taluk in the district, police said Tuesday. The man suspected his wife’s fidelity. Another daughter, aged about 9, who was admitted to the government hospital here with cut injuries initially, has been referred to the Government Hospital in Chennai for advanced treatment.

Indian Express quoted police as saying that Palani (45) had murdered his wife Valliammal (37) and daughters Trisha (15), Monisha (14), Thanusree (4), and son Siva (7) by attacking them with a sharp weapon. SP K Karthikeyan said that Palani was suspicious of his wife’s character. He used to come home drunk and beat her. The issue has been going on for years. On the day of the incident, he again picked up a quarrel with his wife and committed the gruesome act.

Police registered a case under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder), section 174 (suicide by hanging) of Code of Criminal Procedure.
